They later studied at McGill University, where their musical horizons expanded at the heart of Montreal’s vibrant 2000s electronic scene.

After completing their studies, Sami moved to San Francisco to work as a botanist, but it wasn’t long before the decks called. They began spinning with Heart of Gold DJs in 2014 and spent 11 years with the award-winning crew before leaving the botany world behind to pursue DJing full-time. Alongside their work behind the decks, Sami also recorded and toured with their post-punk band, Composite.

As both a musician and a curator, Sami pulls from over three decades of musical study to create unique, beautiful sets. While their taste spans all genres, their sweet spot lies in soul, funk, disco, house, new wave, hip hop, R&B, and pop across all decades.

Sami is currently based in San Francisco and will be based in New York starting in 2026. Catch them on the dance floor.
